Chabad’s Night of Joy and Gratitude at the Four Seasons

More than 500 friends and supporters of Chabad of the Conejo joined together on the evening of Tuesday, June 13, at the Westlake Four Seasons Hotel to celebrate Chabad’s “Gala Banquet ‘23”. As the first such event to be held in-person in four years, the theme of the evening was “Todah: The Miracle of Gratitude.”

After a sumptuous buffet dinner, the program began with a rousing speech by Rabbi Yisroel Levine, who introduced a video about the Lubavitcher Rebbe by sharing the Rebbe’s unique approach to maintaining a positive and grateful disposition despite the conflicting external realities of the world around us.

Among the program highlights to follow were moving testimonials by Mr. Carey Samuels and Ms. Rachel Shanbrom-Dadbin, whose lives were dramatically impacted by the work of Chabad; the presentation of the Lifetime Achievement Award to Dr. Jack and Beth Lin; a tribute to the Eisenberg Family, who are about to make aliyah to Israel; a chilling, yet ultimately uplifting, account shared by Rebbetzin Matty Bryski of her husband, Rabbi Moshe Bryski’s, brush with death on the 101 Freeway on the fateful night of September 1, 2022; and a series of exhilarating musical performances by the world-renowned 8th Day Duo.

The evening reached its crescendo when Rabbi Moshe Bryski challenged everyone in attendance to help him maximize his “Bonus Time” on earth by sharing his vision, and joining him in enacting, bold new initiatives of growth and expansion for the benefit of the Conejo Valley Jewish Community.

In his words, “This evening is devoted to the importance of expressing and manifesting gratitude in our daily lives. I think we all know that the ultimate way of demonstrating gratitude for the blessings in our lives is by giving back... The more we’ve been blessed, the greater our debt to G-d and to our fellow man.

“This is a beautiful community being served by an exceptional organization. It doesn’t take any great stretch for us to imagine what Chabad of the Conejo might do with more facilities and larger quarters. Our track record speaks for itself. So let’s put our vision into focus... Let’s make it happen... Let’s build for the future!”
